Save Money, Have Your Teen Take Drivers Ed
Teenage years are the time when parents are really excited for children to learn their independence but you are also scare of what our children are going to do with all that independence. Your teenager is getting to the point where they will soon be out on the road behind the wheel. You can’t wait for that time because now you don’t have to shuttle them back and forth between friends house, and an even better bonus you have an extra person to run to the store next time you need to go to the grocery store. But…. Yes there is a but you know that your insurance may double what you are paying now. There is good news though, if your teenager takes drivers ed you will save some money.
Once you start looking at the different insurance rates for your teenager you will probably start to notice your premium will go up quite a bit once you put your teen on the policy. But, drivers ed will make a differences in your pocket book.
Many states, when a student takes driver ed they will earn a discount between 5%-15%. But just because your teen takes drivers ed does not mean than your teen will not have an accident. You just need to have faith that you child will be safe on the road.
If your student takes drivers ed and keeps their grades up they may also be helping you earn more of a discount. There are even some insurance companies that will offer up to a 25% discount for keeping a straight A.
When you are going to buy your teen a car, make sure you don’t go and get your teen a sports car and that you call your insurance company and ask them what that rate is on that care before you buy the care. If you purchase a sedan your insurance company will consider that a safer car.
Talk to your teenager to turn off their cell phone when they are driving. That way they are not tempted to talk on the phone and drive. Another way to help your teen be a safer driver is by limiting how many friends your teen can have in the car when they are driving. Both cell phones and friends in the car can make driving more dangerous and distract your teens.
So although your scared to let your teen drive if you prepare them by putting them through drivers ed you are not only making your teen a safer driver and educating them more about the road but you will be saving yourself money too. Above are just a few of the tips that may help you and your family when it comes to putting your teen behind the wheel and earning a discount.

Hi,
Thanks for these good post. Good information. I kept on nodding with the every word you say. Learning to operate a motor vehicle is the last step in your driver education experience before taking your driving test at the DMV. If you pass the driving test, you get your driver’s license. If not, it’s back to school!
Thanks
Sofia.
