Loaning Out Our Teens

By: Aurelia Category: Parenting A Teen

I have a couple of my friends that either don’t have kids or their kids are all grown and gone out of the house.  Well with a 16 year old daughter sitting around the house and my friends telling me how they have little chores to things that need donen around the house I decided maybe the would like to borrow my teen.

So I made up a list of things that teenagers should be able to handle and wanted to share that list with you:

  • Mowing the lawn in the summer.  My daughter always talks about getting a tan and wanting to be outside so why not let her go out and mow someones lawn.  Teenagers can handle this task very easy no matter if they have a push mower or a riding lawn mower. And once we teach our daughter how to handle the edger that will be on the list also.
  • Gardening.  Another great idea for getting my daughter out in the sun and off the couch.  My daughter helps us gardne by pulling weeds, trimming flowers and much more.
  • Shoveling the snow.  This is a great way to get your teenagers outside and let them get some fresh air.  Ples they are making a little extra money while they are doing it. Single moms and elderly people really love this kind of help
  • Help Decorating their house for the Holidays.  A lot of the house that are not decorated in our neighborhood are because they are elderly people who just cant get out and do it anymore.  They have all the decorations they just need that extra little help getting them up this year
  • Pet Sitting is one the my Teen daughter loves to do.  My daughter loves animals and so she is very eager to pet site for people.  She goes over lets them out a few times a day, plays with them a little and feeds and waters them.
  • Baby-sitting is a perfect way to earn some extra money and help someone out.  My daughter babysits for one couple once a month so that they can go out on a date and spend some quality time together.  If they children are too young for you teenager you could offer to have your teen do it in your home where you could help supervise.
  • Driving them to the grocery store or doctor office when they need to get groceries or have an appointment

This is just a short list I sat down and thought of that I knew my daughter could handle.  If you have any suggestions or more to add to the list please feel free to leave us a comment.
