Get A Job
You tell your teen to get a job. And they lay around, lay around. Then one day they come home and tell you, “Mom I got a job!” and You are like yes Finally now they can start being more responsible. But what do you do if they don’t have a drivers license or a car to get back and forth to their job.
We ran into this problem recently our teenager daughter got a job and boy were we excited and until I found out the job was 30 minutes away on the other side of town. And she does not even have a driving permit. SO my first reaction was to ask her, “Why so far away?” Of course she said because it was the only place that called her back. I think it might of been the only place that she applied but I don’t want to always think negative.
We told her to take the job but not to relay on Mom or Dad to take her. Dad works 2nd shift and mom can not be dragging kids out that late at night. And she promised yes she had it all set up to get rides back and forth. And that her friends were more then happy to give her rides. HMMMMM, more then happy????
Well a month went by of getting rides, and two paychecks later she can not find anyone to give her a rid, she is not excited about work anymore and does not want to go? Can I say, “See Not as easy as you thought huh!!!”
I understand all the struggles of being a teen because I was there 20 years ago but I don’t remember all the bad decisions. LOL. Sometimes we just have to hug our kids and remind them we love them no matter what decision they make.

Tricia has a 16 year old daughter (so she knows all about being mommy to a teenager) a 13 year old step son (she knows the life of a blended family) and a 7 year old daughter born without fingers on her left hand (she knows when to give extra love and kisses). Tricia was also a teen runaway and a teen mother so she has experience to share with us. You can find more of Tricia’s Blogging at http://triciagardner.com/blog.
