Where Did My Baby Girl Go?

By: Aurelia Category: Parenting A Teen

In less then a month my daughter will be 16 years old. Yap, you heard me right. She has grown up into a beautiful amazing girl right in front of my eyes. I still see her as my baby. She is my first born and i had her as a teenager so I was not much more then a baby myself. I was her age when I got pregnant with my twins. Yes twins at 16 now if that is not a jaw dropper, I don’t know what is. I still remember holding her in my arms seconds after she was born and feeling so much love I thought I was going to burst.

Now she is turning 16, going on dates, and mom is no longer the center of her world like I used to be. I remember when she needed me and liked to spend time with me. We would pay video games, board games, card games, and tag all the time. Now I ask her want to do something together and she looks at me like “Yah right MOM.” She used to love to go shopping with me and let me pick out her cloths. Now I look at what she is wearing and think, “No Seriously You are not going to wear that right?”

And that old saying Time Flies When You Are Having Fun is so true. We had tons of fun together and really I can not complain. My daughter still comes and kisses us goodnight each and every night. She still tells me she loves me 10 to 15 times a day. She will still hug me before she gets on the bus. (If I ask her to. Although I normally will not because I don’t want to embarass her too much).

I do have to look back and think wow I raised one awesome kid. She is so polite (in public)!!! She still shows love and affection to the family and she does sit down and talk to me or/and my husband whenever something is bothering her.

She is definitely my pride and job but I was just wondering where did my baby girl go and if you see her can you tell her to stop growing up!!!!!!

Well, I was actually on this site finding research for a paper I’m writing, but you’re little dilemma caught my eye!! I’m a teenager right now, just a tad bit older than your daughter! She sounds like an awesome girl who most likely knows which decisions will be best for her! I’ve seen a lot of teenage girls during these past 3 years that seem to match your daughter almost perfectly, and I don’t think you have anything to worry about! But I must warn you… 17 and 18 are going to be the tough years. She seems pretty lovey though, so you should have a pretty easy time with ehr compared to some other parents! Well, good luck with your baby girl Tricia!!

  2. Natalie,

Thank you so much for the comment. I have to agree with you when you say she will be ok. deep down in my heart I know she will it is just hard to watch her grow up so fast. Thank you for the warning of 17 and 18. lol. She just turned 16 yesterday and already she seems older.
