<description>you have given a very insightful post Aurelia. I must congratulate you from my heart. I know, because I was a shy teenager. The self-conscious type.
I realized that each individual is different. One should not try to mould children according to some pre-conceived notions or ideals.
Many great people were shy - from politicians to actors. Two things are important here - the parents should encourage the strong points of teenagers and try to instill confidence and high self-esteem. And, more importantly, give them a goal, a dream to catch.
That I think is the best gifts the parents give, whenever they do so.
And, never ever behave as if shyness is a problem. It is not, in and of itself. I know.
